Basic formula
Square or Rectangle
Area ( A ) = Length ( L ) x Width ( W )
A = LW
Circle
Area ( A ) = Pi (3.14) X Radius (R) X Radius (R)
A = (3.14) x R²
Ovals or Egg-shaped
Area ( A ) = Length ( L ) x Width ( W ) at Midpoint x .8
A = .8LW
Triangle
Area ( A ) = 1/2 Base ( B ) x Height ( H )
A = 1/2BH
Irregular Shapes
- Measure the longest axis of the area (length line)
- At every 10 feet on the length line, measure the width at right angles to the length line.
- Total all widths and multiply by 10
Area ( A )= (AA1 + BB1 + CC1) x 10
