Basic formula

Square or Rectangle

Area ( A ) = Length ( L ) x Width ( W )
A = LW

Circle

Area ( A ) = Pi (3.14) X Radius (R) X Radius (R)
A = (3.14) x R²

Ovals or Egg-shaped

Area ( A ) = Length ( L ) x Width ( W ) at Midpoint x .8
A = .8LW

Triangle

Area ( A ) = 1/2 Base ( B ) x Height ( H )
A = 1/2BH

Irregular Shapes

  1. Measure the longest axis of the area (length line)
  2. At every 10 feet on the length line, measure the width at right angles to the length line.
  3. Total all widths and multiply by 10

Area ( A )= (AA1 + BB1 + CC1) x 10
